Verizon music serice delayed to Q1 2006

Aug 31 2005 - 05:33 PM ET | Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless' music download service is now scheduled to begin in the first quarter of next year according to a report in Forbes. The original goal was to get the service up and running before the holiday season. Analysts believe these will be over-the-air download services where users actually purchase songs with their handsets.

Sprint Nextel is expected to launch a similar service in Q4.

I have a feeling it will be way overpriced and way underfeatured. Who wants to purchase their music all over again. And since they currently get more than a buck for a ringtone, don't look for this to be affordable.

I am more interested in being able to transfer music to my phone, but Verizon Wireless disables that when it the chance. Get with the program!

I won't use it unless I'm in a real pinch. Every once in a while you'll be like, WOW I want that song.. Except for that I can't see why it would be nicer to buy from my phone (and probably pay 2x)
