Live photos of BlackBerry 8700 'Electron'

BlackBerry 8700HowardForums member Flip_Side posted a photo set of the rumored BlackBerry 8700 (codenamed Electron). The unit is a GSM model and sports the Cingular logo.

Features include:

  • 320 × 240 resolution display with 65K colors
  • 312 mhz processor
  • 16MB RAM 64MB flash
  • Bluetooth
  • Quadband with EDGE (CDMA version said to include EV-DO)

The BlackBerry 8700 series is expected to launch in October.

So I guess this is a legit rumor... Not sure if the design grabs me, but I would have to see the thickness. Those pictures are hard to judge. Any update to the OS on this or is it just a new form factor?

Yea, this must be true. But let's hope this is some sort of prototype, because she's ugly! It looks like the Motorola Q's ugly step sister.

The discussion on Howard Forums says that Push To Talk may be activated on this. That may be interesting.

Yea, but will it have solved the mic problem Blackberry's are plaqued with? I had to get rid of my 7100 because no one could understand me and the 7290 picks up way too much background noise!
