Cingular launches Nokia 9300

Nokia 9300Cingular has announced the Nokia 9300, a high-end Communicator device under the Series 80 family. The Nokia 9300 from Cingular will ship with BlackBerry Connect, making it the first non-RIM handset with the BlackBerry Connect software sold in the US.

Features of the Nokia 9300 include:

  • EDGE high-speed data
  • QWERTY keybaord
  • 80MB memory
  • 640×200 screen, 65K colors
  • Bluetooth

Cingular will ship the Nokia 9300 through business (B2B) channels starting in November. With a 2-year contract the 9300 will be priced at just $299.99 (after a $50 rebate)

This is great. I miss my old Nokia Communicator I had back in 1997. It was the size of a brick but while I was living in Europe at the time it worked great. Price was REALLY high (3,000DM)

Wow, pretty cool. Anyone know how bit it is though? It looks a little clunky when closed, almost like a phone of mine from the late 90s (except for the color screen!).

I have played with the 9300 and it is pretty bulky. But as you see, at least there is a huge screen. This form factor is not for everyone, but since it will now be on a major carrier (and for a good price) at least you have a choice.

Too bad it won't be in stores or else you could play with it in person. It sounds like Cingular will only be selling the 9300 through business channels.
