CES 2006 - Flash memory giant SanDisk today announced two new high capacity cards for mobile phones. The launch goes in tandem with Verizon Wireless' release of V Cast Music. Verizon's music service depends on phones that use the two memory card formats.

microSD (previously known as TransFlash) now reaches up to 1GB, up from 512mb. microSD is a super-tiny format, about the size of a fingernail.

miniSD now reaches 2GB, up from a previous high of 1GB. MSRP for the new card is $199, but flash memory has the tendency to fall in price quickly.
