Motorola announces record Q4 results

Motorola announced its Q4 2005 statement this afternoon. It was another great quarter for the handset division, which posted record sales.

Key figures in the statement:

• Revenue of $10.43 billion, up 18%
• Net profit of $1.2 billion, nearly double the $647 profit for the year ago quarter
• Shipments of mobile devices hit 44.7m
• Global mobile device market share rose 3.1% to an estimated 19%

Investors weren't too impressed as shares of MOT have sunk 7% in after-hours trading (though that comes after a 4% run-up in trading Thursday in anticipation of the earnings announcement).
