T-mobile has doubled the price of SMS messages from $0.05 to $0.10 in the U.S.. Though this price hike is not good news for T-Mobile subscribers, it's made worse with the fact that customers are reporting no way to effectively eliminate SMS service's. Now T-Mobile customers must pay for spam messages, or accidental messages.
According to MobileBurn, T-Mobile states the reason there is no way to eliminate SMS tiers is that they communicate with customers via SMS.

Nothing new here actually. t-mobile customers have always paid for incoming sms messages unless they have a plan.

They do offer text messaging filters. Login to your t-mobile account at my.t-mobile.com
Click on communication tools, then click on "Create spam & keyword filters" at the right. Better than nothing.
