XE Mobile is targeting college students and is an affiliate of Triple Five Group which owns such identifiable namesakes as the Mall of America. XE Mobile is using the Cingular Wireless network.
Launch handsets include the Motorola RAZR, Motorola V180, Nokia 2600, and Nokia 3220. Airtime rates vary based on rate level, but are available for as little as 10 cents per minute for incoming calls. On all levels text messages run 10 cents for all outgoing messages, incoming are free.
One of the differentiating factors of XE is the XE Club Card which offers discounts at some big name national businesses such as Urban Outfitters, Target and Barnes & Noble.
