CTIA 2006 -- Nokia this morning unveiled the 6126, an Americanized version of the 6131 which was announced earlier this year at 3GSM World Congress. Despite the number of features in the 6126, it's a Series 40 handset and does not run Symbian. Notable features of the Nokia 6126 include:
The Nokia 6126 is slated to ship in the second quarter. Carrier availability was not announced.
Both models were approved by the FCC and it looks like the only differences between the 6131 and 6126 is that the 6126 doesn't have infrared and FM. I could understand them taking out the IR 'cause no one uses it anymore, but why did they take out the FM radio?
on the nokia websites both phones show FM and IR in the specs. ???
Actually, they didn't take out the FM radio. If you look on Nokia's 6126 page (http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/6126/0,7747,feat:1,00.html), it's under "Personalization & Fun".
Anyone know when this phone will be offered by Cingular & possible price?
Not sure yet. Sometime this summer :/ hopefully
the second quarter came but the phone didn't come out? whats up with that?
The Nokia 6126 is due out anytime now. It could come out in the later part of June or the early part of July or August. According to Cingular, there are many new phones launching in the latter part of July, early part of August.
Cingular will be launching the 6126 the end of july.
Anyone know how much this little gadget in going to cost me?
I've read $249 as a no contract price; $149 with 2 year agreement. YMMV. Hopefully the phone will be worth it(!)
It must be a joke! 2nd QTR? After becoming a "reduced 6131", I believe Cingular wants to dump all "old stuff" before making the 6126 available... after all, it was anounced for second qtr... meanwhile those guys in Europe get FM and IR... must we always settle for less ?
Guess my words were a little too strong. I'm sorry for that! I'm just tired of waiting so long while my V90 works when it feels like... Come on, lets have the phone that many people is waiting for. Next time I'll just read or listen and keep my mouth shut! Thanks
I agree with carl...the V557 are gone...the 6682 are no longer in the store....giving away the Razor and still no 6126
I have been waiting for the Nokia 6126 phone, but instead purchased a Nokia 6131 off of Ebay. You have to buy one off of there that is Unlocked and it will work. The internet is not set up on it, but if you type in WAP settings for Nokia it should take you to a Nokia website so they can send them to you. After that I had no problems getting online. I absolutely love the Nokia 6131. I encourage you to get one too.
Oh by the way here is the link if any of you purchase the 6131 for Cingular and need the settings to access the internet.
available on Amazon.com, Just bought it today.
available on Amazon.com, Just bought it today.
the phone is available on amazon.com with cingular service. just bought it today. good luck.
Which phone, the 6126 or 6131? I've been asking the Cingular people for weeks when the 6126 is coming out and each time it's delayed a few more weeks. Now I'm hearing early September :(
What happen at Amazon.com the 6126 isn't on the site today???? :(
I just came from Cingular in Weirton, WV the cingular rep just an hour ago has found out the Nokia 6126 has been cancelled. All new nokia's for cingular has been cancelled
Anyone now when it is coming out for Verizon? I checked the Verizon Wireless website and it wasn't there.
I called Cingular today and the rep told me: mh... "looks like another postponement... it could be next year, if it comes...."
I think Cingular should come clean and make a statement. They are about to loose our family as costomers... let them know how you feel. I did....!
I simply think that not only Cingular, but T-Mobile, Verizon and all the rest, should be ashamed of the choice of phones currently being offered to their customers. I have been waiting for months with the hope to see new phones comparable to European phones, but to no avail. I am puzzled at the phones currently available; they are simply out-of style and so unattractive.
I agree with MAX. The providers don't care. Just look at the mall and see hundreds of youg people at the booths getting cheep phones in exchange for what they think is a good deal...! I searched e-bay and found a guy in New York selling the Nokia 6131 (the european equivalent of the US? 6126) that the providers are holding while they dump their cheap overstocks... The e-bay guy has 16 6131 available [15, I just purchased one]. Just decided that I will not wait any longer. Search e-bay, you'll find him there.
Actually, the 6126 is the US version of the 6131 - not the 6136. The 6136 is a UMA phone that will also show up in the US market.
