Amp'd Mobile forecasts 150k subs by year end

ampd mobile logoAmp'd Mobile has issued a new subscriber forecast of 100,000-150,000 customers by the end of 2006. Like many recent mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs), Amp'd got off to a much slower start than internal projections predicted. Amp'd has its focus at mobile entertainment and has taken investment capital from several media companies, including MTV.

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this year that Amp'd had less than 10,000 subscribers in its first five months. The CEO says that the company is now approaching 50,000 subscribers. Amp'd will have been in business for one year by the end of 2006.

Amp'd Mobile has had better luck at attracting investment capital than subscribers--to date the company has inked more than $250 million in venture capital.

I liked the Amp'd service, except the fact that they don't have a web browsing capability, at all.

Not true - they have a full html web browser.... you just dont have to pay $15 a month for it like with everyone else.. its free, go under My Stuff and Apps.... or press the button that says INTERNET on Amp'd Live.
