Nextel to work towards public safety

Nextel is trying to bed with the big boys so it doesn't have to cut deals with local public safety agencies over its use of the 800MHz spectrum. You may recall when we noted the FCC is looking into the growing problem of cell phones blocking communcations by police and fire... It's still a problem, and especially with Nextel. In Denver they hashed things out, but doing this on a case-by-case basis makes it long and expensive. Wireless Week is reporting that Nextel is trying its best to work things out, but is having a hard time getting the support of other wireless companies.
