Mobile ESPN's launch plans have been announced, for most of the country the service will be available on February 5, 2006 through BestBuy stores. Some markets will launch starting November 1st.
Mobile ESPN is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) built on the Sprint Nextel PCS network and will try to lure the lucrative young male sports fans. The carrier will offter exclusive sports services, such as real-time scores, news, fantasy sports info and audio/video programming.
The first phone to launch on Mobile ESPN will be the Sanyo MVP.
