The Samsung A900 is a thin clamshell that's destined for Sprint. We highlighted the FCC approval last month, so it was no secret, but now there is more information.
Specs of the Samsung A900 include:
Sprint is expected to launch the A900 this year. Pricing was not announced. This phone looks to be a direct competitor with the recently announced Motorola RAZR V3c.

Matt, it's a flip phone. Look at the photos :).
I realize that, but note that the first line says "slider."
is ugly.
Do we know if it has an external speaker.
Yay thanks for the edit. MajorHavoc, I do not know for a fact, but I'd be willing to bet it does.
When is the ETA for this phone. I have LG225pm but i'm tired of it and want another bluetooth phone for my car.

with no expansion memory this thing will suck. plus the razr v3i will pwn the hell out of the blade
I do inventory management for Sprint and I can tell you guys that the warehouse just got them within the past couple days. They should be shipping them out to the stores hopefully by the middle of next week right at the begining of December. Sadly most stores initially get maybe 2-3 phones, one of which becomes the store demo and the others are kept hidden by people like me LOL and sold only to "special" customers like employees, friends, etc. We won't get a larger amount till maybe a few weeks later and I think the warehouse here had 700 when I checked today. In other words, good luck getting one, I know I'll have mine ;)
1337 tech, I have a question for you since you do inventory management at Sprint. Any clue on when the motorola q will be available for sprint?
Quick science lesson. EV-DO data speeds drop with distance. Sprint uses 1900MHz while Verizon uses 800MHz. 1900MHz needs more towers to cover an given area. That is why Sprint has been tested at having faster network speeds for both of their network technologys. Take into effect that Sprint offers more EV-DO related content then Verizon. This gives Sprint an advantage in this area. Like other people here have mentioned, Sprint also has better prices for their EV-DO plan options.
This phone along with all of their current and future phones gives sprint the advantage overall against Verizon. I do not own this phone, but I do own the Sanyo MM 9000, which is a great phone. People here should not poke fun at any of Sprint's EV-DO phones unless you know the whole store behind them.
Yep K! Sprint now has the best EV-DO phone around!
Sprint has better EV-DO features and faster Power Vision speeds. Verizon won't even get to use this phone, if ever, for a whole year! Verizon's new LG EV-DO phone has fallen flat on it's A$$!
I spoke to someone and they said that the phone will be released in two weeks for everyone thats what ive been told like two days ago. They said the phone will run for 350-400 dollars for this phone i gotta have
You can view the A900 at Samsung's website
http://product.samsung.com/cgi-bin/nabc/product/b2c_product_detail.jsp?eUser=&prod_id=SPH-A900&selTab=Specifications

I've been without a phone for two weeks waiting for the blade...i see people selling it on ebay with a new 2year contract but i'm scared....so i need major help..another thing do you prefer the a900 or the a940?
Hey folks, got my Blade yesterday. It's only for new lines, so I had to add one to my plan for my kid to get it! It's scary how thin it is. I'm new to Bluetooth. Any hints on it?
ive looked every where on the internet and i still cant find out how much memory this thing has cuz if it only has about 50 mb then im getting a different fone plz help
does ne 1 kno how much memory this fone has
Should be at Radio Shack and or Best Buy next week (they both said their shipments where held up), and yes it has an external speaker.
Here is the breakdown and the answer to your memory question..
Features of this 0.61 inch (15.4 mm) thick quad band phone include a 262.000 color (320x240 pixel) display, 1.3 megapixel camera, video capture, dual stereo speakers, Bluetooth, MP3 player, 70 MB internal memory, 32 MB removable Trans-Flash memory, Instant messaging (AIM, Yahoo! and ICQ) and EDGE.
Guys this is the best website to get the new blade from, they have the phone for cheap, its the cheapest place to get the blade on the internet.
Wireless50.com
Does Best Buy have the A900 in stock?
Got my A900 "Blade" yesterday. Got it as an upgrade to my current service. Got it at the Sprint store, paid $199 for it. Love it!
I just got the A900 and it very cool. I hated all the phone that sprint had, but this is with out a doubt the best phone I've seen yet. The one thing that I'm finding is the battery isn't that good. Anyone know if they sell a better battery?
Also, does anyone know of away to sync my outlook contact list with my phone?
Just got the phone to work as a modem for my laptop and it's DSL speed. I just wish it charged as it was attached to the laptop. Still great believe me!
Hey folkz....Im a Tech.Consultant at a local sprint store in the L.A. area...I got the "blade"...its a good phone, its no 6700 but overall the "blade" does more than your average "cell" phn. Word of advice to does thinking of getting the "blade". I'm having trouble uploading pictures...the device will freeze at times while online...theres a current sw out there for this device thats suppose to take care of all "known" issue. sw_ver; YL02 PRL;20216, BUT...as you might have guessed it. It does not...So if you get your blade and you seem to be having any trouble with it...get it exchange...you have 30 days to return it. Were
suppose to have a new sw upgrade sometime in January thats really suppose to fix all "known" issues...so maybe getting your phone exchange will do you no good...but it doesn't hurt to try...h4xor you later...I mean...hee hee hee...
(luv that bluetooth technology=)...I hope this is usefull info. for the pepz...overall review on the a900; itz a hella good phn....
I just picked mine up. So far so good.. The port for the charger is in a dumb place and I'm sure this little door that covers the port will fall off.
I love it!!! I'm drooling over my new blade right now actually... my twin got one too!! Lots of my friends complain about their razors being too light but this one has such a good weight to it!! I don't feel like im going to break it.. and it's so nice looking! Let's see, the radio sounds amazing, powervision is amazing, the screen is huge so it's great for watching tv... I haven't figured out everything to it yet but I can download movies and mp3s... =)
Have my new phone and Love it! Does anyone know if the downloaded MP3's can also be used at Ringtones? I have downloaded some great music and would also be able to use them as ringtones.
Any word on if this phone will ever be available in silver?
does any one know if this phone is going to follow the razr as far as color goes i would hate to purchase the black one only for a pink one to come out 6 months later.
I got this phone about a week ago,
I will be honest.
I compared this with my sister's razr.
first in thickness, this is a little tiny bit thicker than the razr, but it's not that noticeable.
Size wise, width and length are almost the same.
It's alittle heavier than the razr, but it turned out to be better because it makes the phone feel more solid and not like a toy.
Screen is awesome, and camera is awesome too.
If anyone wants to see the picture taken with this phone, email me and I will send it your way.
Well, overall, I would recommend this phone over razr, because it looks better, and it's more relieable, and better brand, and better camera. Most importantly, it doesn't have the buzzing sound that the razr has while talking to someone.
My sister complains about the razr's sound quality and as you guys might know already, razr screen is blurry and it makes you squint your eyes to see it. But this samsung a900 has 260k screen, it's almost perfect!
Go buy it !
I have had the A900 for a few days...very sharp phone. The only drawback is the battery life...3 hours of continuous talk time is a myth. But overall, this phone will do more than all the others in its class.
Hey ppl. I just got this phone two days ago. (Today is Xmas.) I like the phone a lot. I have been looking for a case for the phone and cannot find one.
-The battery life hasn't been all that bad.
-Dealing with pictures seems to be a hassle. It freezes when I want to view my online albums.
-I can't figure out the angle on the camera phone yet.
-My phone book... I have to search through each contact's complete list to get to their cell, or work... with my 4500 I was able to designate a particular number to be the main number when I highlighted them in my phone book.
-Some web sites don't even have the phone in their system, so I cannot download ringtones properly.
-Some ringtones play way too loudly, or too softly.
-Love the size
-Love the color
-Love being one of the first to have it. I am oh-so exclusive.
Has anyone found software to upload outlook contact list to the SPH-A900? I have future dial's snapsync and susteen datapilot, but not updates have been released to upload my VGA-1000 contact list to this phone.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
I love this phone but would like to find out if it will be coming out in pink before i buy it....does ne one know if this phone will be coming out in pink?
Does this phone allow you to upload mp3 from your computer via the usb cable that comes with it? I'm not too excited about buying music I already have at $2.50 to download from the web.
with all these features and how much better it is den the razr, why not just get anotha battery?
Has anybody found a more memory solution for this
phone so i can get more music other than 12 mp3's? that kinda sucks, a little xd card would have done great!
has anyone found a way to unlock the phone? I want to be able to put my own mp3s on it. I can connect to the pc but it says that the phone is locked and files cant be copied on to it.
email me if you know how!
thx
can anyone tell me how to transfer mp3's from the pc to the phone?
Thanks.
How to Connect your phone to your pc Instructions
Step 0
Connect your phone to your phone to your PC via the USB cable
Disregard the pop up window that says new hardware/CDMA Technologies. This is just for using your phone as a modem.
Step 1
Press Menu button
Step 2
Press 8 or go to the Tools
Step 3
Go to Mass Storage
Step 4
Connect To PC
This will connect your phone to your PC as a USB Device!!
Im still fooling around with where to put your files, but if you put your MP3s in your Music folder you can listen to them through the Music Store Player. Ive recompressed the MP3s I want on my phone to 64kbs to make the file size smaller so I can fit more on the phone.
update...
putting your mp3s in the media folder allows you to listen to your music without using the store player! which is nice is you cant connect to the store, but the media player DOES NOT PLAY the .koz files the sprint store gives you.
Thanks Kenny! Question...and this is a very, very stupid question. All of my MP3's are CD quality...meaning the bit rate is 320kbps. What tool are you using to compress yours down to 64? I've never done that...but would like to.
why would it say call disabled?? after " the step 4" is this normal?? if so...what do i do after???
How Much Is Da New Sprint Blade U Now Da 1 Better Than Da Razor Wen It Comes Out And How Much Memory Does It Hold
bluburry, as long as your phone menu shows you as connected, you should be able to open up Microsoft Explorer or My Computer and see a Mass Storage device attached to your computer. Once you get that far, you can move MP3's into your media folder.
Brandon- Ive been using QT Pro and iTunes. The only problem with iTunes is that if your not careful you WILL overwirte your good quality MP3s, so make a copy and use the copy version and not the original. But you can use any program that can make / recompress MP3s, I think Winamp can do it too.
bluberry- yes this is normal, while in USB mode the phone cannot recieve anything.
alex- I got mine for the $200 after rebate. Normally its $350.
If anyone else has more questions please email me at armorgator@hotmail.com - subject: A900
I have heard that if you have a bluetooth connection off your computer you can highlight your outlook contacts and transfer them to your A900 that way. Can anyone confirm before I go out and buy the bluetooth for my PC? Is there any way to use the included USB cable to sync with outlook?
I do know you can do this. But I have heard that it requires certain applications to do this. I dont know if Outlook is one of those. You might want to do a bit more research into this. Theres abunch of stuff you can do with bluetooth with the phone, but since Im not bluetooth enabled I cant really help you on that
I dont know if this helps
Sync A900 with Mac OSX
also found on the internet on bluetooth problems with the a900
"
bluetooth - moving contacts and pictures works well but we can't get a headset to work for more than a call or 2. tried both mine and my husband's, which both work fine with other phones. They won't stay connected and the phone causes a beeping noise in the headsets. I'm on the road a lot and this is my biggest gripe.
also with bluetooth, there is no way to move information other than contacts from a computer to the phone. Things like notes, tasks and appointments don't work.
"
thats just one opinion, heres one where people got it to work WITH OUTLOOK
Syne with Outlook
hope this helps and goodluck with your phone !
This phone is full of bugs! Bluetooth doesn't work! Go to this web site and learn about the major issues that this phone has:
I have one I know! Samsung appears to be ignoring the users and the bugs...
How do I use PC Sync on my phone (Sanyo MM-9000)to download ringtones from my PC to my phone.
hey so where can i get this phone for a good price without the plan attached????????
Manny- of course this phone is going to have bugs, when samsung releases the next software update hopefully it will fix a lot of its problems.
Igel- read above, ive given detailed instructions
1337 tech, what stores will be carrying them, and at what cost? or anyone who knows this info. please feel free to reply.
Be aware. This phone makes false calls via blue tooth.
I have a brand new Prius 2006 with package 8 which comes with bluetooth built in.
I did notice that couple of times calls were coming into the phone and when I press talk I see no body responding. When I check call history on the phone sure enough there was no body making the calls. Also came to know that one of my friend has the same problem. I can rule out 2006 Prius as having a bug because I do have another phone which is Nexttel Black berry 7520 which doesn't have this issue.
Another inconvinience. I brought this phone about 15 days ago and still not being able to transfer contacts from my old phone to new phone is a major inconvinience.
2nd
mchinta, I noticed the same thing as well. Althogh I'm not sure if the phone is to blame, or the bluetooth setup in my Audi. When I start my car up, my in-car telephone tries to dial out...but when I look at my phone, it's in standby mode. Not sure what's going on...
Im currently using windows 98 never wanted to upgrade. and i connected my A900 to my pc and when i select connect to pc it asks me for drivers
for a USB MMC storage device, ive already been to samsung.com and sprint.com and i cannot find drivers for this damn phone im ready to return it. please can anyone help me??
The USB drivers for storage is on the Samsung site.
http://www.samsungtelecom.com/drivers/driver.asp?model=SPH-A900.zip
Thats the driver for Samsung CDMA Modem ive already downloaded that one. The thing is with windows 98 whinever u connect a USB device such as a flash drive u have to manually install the drivers. I had the same problem when i baught my first USB flach drive. where as windows xp and similar opperating systems will automatically detect and register the USB device as a seperate drive. I tried your steps and connected the A900 to my girlfriends computer which has XP and it connected perfectly. the problem is now that i can copy and paste mp3's to the phone i place them in the music folder but when i try to play them i get the message "Unsupported Document Format by Fileviewer" and when i open media player the files arent even present in Mass Storage. please help me.
Shane- Put your MP3s in the MEDIA FOLDER. To listen to your MP3s from the MEDIA FOLDER, in your menu system, go to the MEDIA PLAYER (#9), select Mass Storage and viola!
To listen your MP3s from your MUSIC FOLDER, go to the MUSIC icon in your menu (#8) and that will launch the Sprint music store, press right to go the PLAYER tab, select ALL MY MUSIC, and viola!
Shane before you transfer you mp3s to your phone they have to be in the correct format that your phone will recognize.
I use I tunes and your can convert the files into the AAC+ format which is recognized by your phone it is the format that all your ringtones are downloaded to your phone in
Then transfer them to your media folder
Does any one know how to use the mp3s that your transfer to your phone as a ringtone. if so please let me know
Thankyou so much kenny for all the help. your second option worked but when i open the Media player the mass storage has and the mp3's are on the phone and they do work with the sprint store player but there seems to be no way to access them with the media player. i was wondering if it is where i am saving the mp3's or something. I connect the phone to my pc select connect to pc my pc reads the phone as an external usb drive in the drive there are several folders DCIM, BLUETOOTH, MEDIA, MUSIC, and FILESTORE i have been saving the music in the music folder. and ive tried the others as well but nothing comes up when i open media player.
There is a software update for this phone. Make sure you download and install it. Fixes the bluetooth headset issues.
I just bought this phone yesterday, I had no problem whatsoever interfacing with my pc, coping mp3's to the music folder, & playing them. The only problem is the freaking 50mb storage, why the f did they make it so gd small, my 1gb card for my PsP is f-ing super small. does anyone know if there are any storage expansion upgrades for this phone?
HEY II HAVE THIS PHONE! ITS HELLA BOMB!
Man this Phone Rock's it's really something cool , i got it cople days ago and it's awesome plus for all people that love music if you have a lil $ on side you should get an external hard drive for this phone. you can find it on www.samsung.com up to 12GB it is a lil big to cary around sll the time but if you are let's say on airport you can conect it to your A900 phone and Watch videos ,Music,Play Games ,Photos and much more just like a Computer let's say a loptop... Phone Battery life is bad but there is a new battery , that you can buy in any RadioShack or maybe someother retail stores Like Circut City,Best Buy ,etc.not sure if thay have it but you can give it a shot i know radio shack does have litium batery gives you more talk time and other...So if you need bether battery and more memory and you have a lil extra $ on the side go get it becouse with that and this lil peace of tehnology "phone" your life will be much much interesting.Belive me For more Questions write back thanks and have funn , Chek me out in Chicago's Nightclub ENVYor VISION thanks DjTwitch ...
shane- music in your MUSIC FOLDER will only play through the sprint music store player, mp3s (NOT koz files) can be played through the MEDIA PLAYER.
DJfanatik- the battery life does suck a bit if your using the multimedia features, ie. media player, games etc..., but also you can add a bit more life your battery if you turn off the gps location thingy, SETTINGS > OTHER > LOCATION. if you turn that off you can add about an 30-45 minutes talk and like 2hours standby. That location thing is a battery eater. and i dont see and 'hard drive' on the samsung site....
yourmom- original name... no there is no expansion slot, re-compress your mp3s, into ACC or smaller mono mp3s. Remember the output of the speaker on the phone and the headset isnt top quality so having cd quality music would be wasted due to the horrible speakers
kenny thanks again for the great info on the phone, this page is a great reference for any issues concerning the phone, i really like mine. the only thing that sux is the lack of memory, and the fact that the usb for the computer doesnt charge the phone. for some reason when i unplugged the phone from the charger this morning, it got locked up and wouldnt go into the power save mode, i didnt realize it until a couple hours later when the battery was almost dead.
Can some one assist me, in sync outlook's Contact and Scheduler to Samsung A900.
Prior had samsung pda window mobile phone. Trying to figure out if i could sync outlook in a similar format to the samsung a900
thanks for your assistance
can some one help me how to sync outlook's contacts, calendar and task to Samsung A900
Prior had a Samsung PDA Window mobile phone. Wanted to know if i can sync outlook in a similar way.
Thank you for your assistance
i was surfing the web on my phone today and got suddenly the phone locked up completely and the screen said "emergency vart" the phone wouldnt turn off either. i had to physically take the battery out to fix it. has anyone else had this problem or know anything about it. please let me know. also, occassionally when i open the phone, the top of the screen with has the signal and battery level will have a white bar across it, not sure what is going on with that. the last issue i have is with the missed alerts, isnt the red led supposed to flash when you have missed a phone call, b/c mine doesnt do that. please any help would be appreciated.
thanks
Amit- I dont have any problems sync'ing the phone to outlook. Are you using the data cable? or bluetooth? Im using bluetooth and its just a simple matter of hitting sync. I dont know of a way to do it from the data cable yet
Josh - One of the reasons why your phone locked up is probably because your screen saver isnt formatted for your phone. Its obvious that you have a custom screen saver, cause that white bar where your top icons should be is an indicator that the picture is bad or corrupt. Ive run into this several times with corrupted screen savers. Turn off / on your phone and they will come back, but will disappear after a while forcing you turn off/on your phone again. Try redownloading the screen saver. And the red light thing, yes and no. If you missed a call or just dont answer, the light will flash BUT if you press any button(to mute your phone while the call is still incoming), the phone will not give you that blinking red light.
thx for the help kenny, much appreciated. its a great phone overall. love going online, and have used it as a modem as well. pretty cool.
don't be afraid to call me an idiot--
i bought this phone under the assumption that i could copy any old mp3 onto the phone and use it as a ringtone. can't i? it looks like i have to pay extra to get some special file? (appartently either Sprint of Samsung is/are too greedy for that. $350 plus the monthly service charges aren't enough?)
i saw the post about using AAC files, but i guess i'm too dumb to figure that out. i converted mp3 files to AAC. now what? when i go to an entry in my addressbook and try to edit the ringer for a particular entry, it is not obvious to me how to get to the song i just put onto my phone.
everyone seems to think this phone is so great. i'm a sour apple, i suppose. it's not user-friendly as far as i'm concerned. something this simple shouldn't require getting onto a forum.
SAMSUNG ENGINEERS---LISTEN UP!!!
you need to release a software upgrade that will
ALLOW US TO USE OUR OWN MP3 FILES AS RINGTONES
(and make it one of the options when assigning a ringer for a particular contact in our address book).
James- Why would you want to use mp3s as your ringtones? After 30 seconds the call gets sent to voicemail... If you want custom ringtones of your mp3s, go to 3gupload.com. I use this site all the time for ringtones and screensavers. They let you upload your own mp3s (which you can set where the ringtone starts up and ends), the site automatically converts them to a smaller file and stores it on thier server, then through your phones web browser you access your account and download the file, which stores it in the My Contents section where you can set them up as ringtones.
I wouldnt bother paying for their ringtones but just use them to get your mp3s and screensavers to your phone.
Kenny--i want it because i want it. i know it will cut off after 30 seconds and go into voice mail, that's fine. i understand your suggestion, there are several web sites that do that. however, that is what i'm trying to avoid (i.e., i want to use the data cord to put files from my pc onto my phone WITHOUT GOING ONLINE WITH MY PHONE, thereby not having to pay for internet service for my phone).
it's not such a crazy request. several phones on the market do exactly that--use any mp3 file as a ringtone...even recording your own voice (or that of a caller).
bottom line---i really appreciate your response, but it's not the solution i'm looking for.
Kenny--just to follow up, my request is fairly common and would make the phone much more appealing to a larger customer base. and it would be relatively easy for Samsung to accomplish (i have 14 yrs EE design experience, so i know what's do-able)
...in other words, Samsung could easily release a software upgrade that did what those websites do. namely, the user could transfer an mp3 (or AAC or any audio file the phone can read) from a PC to the phone. the contact list could then have a ringer option that points to that audio file. then, when the user chooses that file as a ringer, the phone could automatically (transparent to the user) create another file in the ringer format (of the first 30-45 seconds of the audio file, for example) and put that into "MY CONTENTS" so that the user could access it as a ringtone for whoever (default, particular caller, txt msg, whatever the user decides). to conserve memory, "MY CONTENTS" could just have a "shortcut" instead of an actual copy since the memory space on the phone is so small.
I have your back on this one James. The lack of ringtone support for mp3s transferred from a PC is my primary gripe for this phone.
I don't want to pay $20 a month for that PowerVision crap (or the monthly fee for sites like 3gupload.com). I already have a notebook PC with wireless broadband access pretty much anywhere I go (that renders websites ten times better than any cellphone can).
Maybe on the next software update they can code in a fix...I doubt it though.
I JUST got this phone yesterday and I can't believe all of the great features. As for bugs, I haven't noticed any, but I discover that you can update the phone's software right from the phone using the network. No more visits to the Sprint store to wait forever for an update!
Still mad about bugs. Get over it. If you are a "tech-pioneer," this is something you have to expect. That's what warranties are for. Just ask any iPod fan.
brian--thanks for the support, brother. great point about the notebook pc.
i can only hope that Samsung is listening to and will to respond to what their customers want.
bugs come with the territory of new technology, but this seems like a desinged block, not a bug. and fixing it isn't a ground-breaking feature and is not complicated. but not to worry. if Samsung doesn't fix it, it won't be long till you can pay a chinatown baller $10 to change out a chip or two. Samsung should just be proactive and avoid all that.
overall, it's a good phone. i'm just good at critiquing gadgets for userfriendliness and picking up on annoying little things. ringtones is one. texting feature also has minor issues that could be overcome with minimal software changes.
Well im also very frustrated that you cannot put your mp3 as a ringtone. My friend suggested that I download the program BitPim,which transfers mp3 as ringtones to your phone...Unfortunately it doesn't have the blade as an option. So thats not an option anymore. If anyone knows how please inform us!
Hi, Does anyone know how can I get a blade for a reasonaple price? I started my service with sprint 5 months ago. I am afraid to buy it on ebay. thanks
I just got my blade and Im wonder how or where do I go to download MP3s and music videos?
Once they are on my computer how do I get them to my phone? (without bluetooth).
Secondly,
How do I get MP3 and music videos straight from my phone?
I would like to know how to do it both ways if anyone could help me with where to go to do this.
Thanks
read above more i posted instructions
For all those disputing the comparison between the A900 & the Razr, here is a nice comparison:
Samsung A900 --> Motorola Razr
Data Network: EVDO: 400 - 700 kbps --> GSM/GPRS: 50 - 120kbps
Camera: 1.3 megapixel --> 0.3 megapixel
Camera Flash: Yes --> No
Main Display: 240 x 320 pixels --> 176 x 220 pixels
Sub Display: 96 x 96 pixels --> 96 x 80 pixels
Bluetooth: Yes --> Yes
MP3 Player: Yes --> No
Memory: 47.3 MB --> 5.5 MB
Speakerphone: Yes --> Yes
GPS Capabilities: Yes --> No
As you can see, the A900 is superior to the Razr in almost every way. The only gripe I have is that there is no memory upgrade support via Mini-SD card & there is no third band for analog roaming (only digital dual band). The A940 is Triple band. The form factor, the feel of it in your hand, and overall impression of the phone compared to handling many other phones (iDEN Motorola, Cingular phones, CDMA Verizon & Sprint phones, etc), the device is simply superb.
For those curious about a software upgrade & general complaints about bluetooth woes, try going into your "Settings", then "Others" & choose upgrade software, or something to that effect. It may take several minutes to upgrade the software. I'm pretty sure Samsung addressed many complaints with this upgrade. The update came out 'silently' in the last 2 weeks. It definitively fixed a problem with PictureMail on the phone, dunno about the rest.
About having issues with Bluetooth not working in cars, that seems to be a common complaint across the board. The A900 doesn't seem to work with BMW (haven't tested it with the new software upgrade), however nor does another Motorola phone operating on a different network altogether. I'm not sure if the problem lies with the car or the phone, but know that Samsung isn't the only company having this problem with their nifty bluetooth phones.
Also, if you are going to get a brand new phone equipped with MOBILE BROADBAND EVDO, then please don't gripe about not wanting to pay $15 measly bucks per month to pay for BASIC internet service. That's one of the main purposes of the phone and apparently Samsung's vision didn't include people not wanting web access for their new A9x0 devices.

To what folder do u drag ACC files for ringtones...soon as i drag them 2 MEDIA folder I only can see them in Mass Storge but not in my rigtones folder. How do u chose them on ur phone as a ringtone?? Plese help i want my favorite songs 2 play on my celly! Thanx in advence!
Guys, you can go to gritsandeggs.com to get free multimedia ringtones for the A900. These ringtones sounds great on our phone. You will not want to use normal ring tones after hearing these ringtones on the a900.
I agree with all those that feel the "pinch" that sprint and phone makers impose on us. The issue with having bluetooth "crippled" phones that don't allow us to transfer mp3s and paying so much for phones that do not support ringtones as mp3s is mainly, one of economics and GREED!!! Unfortunately, Samsung and other manufacturers are controlled by the carriers and not the other way around. Phone makers bid for multi-million dollar contracts from carriers and must customize the phones to the carriers specifications. The theory is that carriers pay much more for the phones and subsidize the cost to the customer in exchange for long term contracts. Additionally, when they can get you to subscribe to the data, internet, and all other "additional" features, that's when they truly recognize pure profit margins. Sprint and U.S. Cellular, for example, control how we get our ringers and such and attempt to force us to use their service to buy them while also charging us $2.50 per ringer(bullshit!!!) So, our argument is with SPrint and not Samsung. How else will Samsung and other phone makers get their products out without being "tied" to a service plan. The phones would be in the thousand dollar range and just not economically feasible for us to buy. Carriers control phone makers!!!!!
Peace.....
hey Mo....
i went to gritsandeggs.com and the ringrs are "tight" but how do we get the exact ringers to put on our "blade?" They won't allow us to right click and save the songs in the box..??...??

how do i download music from the pc to the phone
Hey guys,
You have probably already answered this question, but my dumb eyes cannot see it. I followed what Kenny said, by connecting my phone to my PC. I am still a little confused on how to put my song files onto the phone itself. Please, someone save me.
Nikki
Does this phone support mpg video or mpeg or any video file type from pc because my mp3s are playing fine on the phone and i can even transfer video files to the phone and the phone will display its name BUT WILL NOT play it, please help, im wondering what file type is required or if it even plays videos at all
Fastbusy-
You can get ringers and other content on your Sprint phone without paying for it. There are a number of sites out there that offer this. Sprintusers also has a Focus uploader that allows you to download ringers and images from your pc to your phone at no charge. US Cellular on the other hand has seen to it that you cannot get anything for free. Not to mention that their network quality is almost non-existant anymore.
Does anyone have any clue how to upload an entire phonebook's worth of contacts from Outlook (in vCard format) to the phonebook? WHY DOESNT SPRINT JUST LET US DO THIS WITH THE USB????!?!? I've been banging my head against the wall trying to get it to work with Bluetooth.
PattyMo,
check out this thread, it should help you out with your bluetooth issues. http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=83395&highlight=a900+contacts+bluetooth

I love the phone. I bought it about a week ago. However, the phone keeps freezing up when I try to open the camera or my album. Urgh. I've had to take the battery off several times to restart my phone. Anyone else w/ this prob? A solution? Thanks.
Again, overall I love this phone, much nicer than the Sanyo 8100 I was holding on to. :)
Nice phone, I wish it had more memory; I wish you didn't have to acess the internet to use basic media options. Don't let corporate greed prevail, use it within your budget.
Just got my a900, I freakin love it. Pimp as hell. Cost me $100 from Wireless50.com. Couple of my boyz recommended the site.
Bluetooth is lovely, I have not had any issues as of yet. Has anyone used the web browsing feature and is it worth getting?
Hey Brenda.... try the following steps:
1. press menu
2. select "settings"
3. select #8(others)
4. select #8(update phone)
and follow the instrustions to update your phone. this means that sprint has come up with some "fixes" for certain problems with the blade and can remedy it through the network(without you having to take the phone to the store.)
good luck. it should resolve bluetooth, picturemail, and a couple other known issues.
Fast........
has ant one had a problme with send a rciveing text with this phone i can cet sprint to sprint but can not get sorint to ? any help went to the store ant said it was working tried software updates
Hi, PLeeeeze, Pleeeze can someone tell me when this fone will be available in the UK and where from - I gotta get one!!!!
To Fast Busy
I did try updating my phone. I appreciate the advice. However, I was reading some earlier posts and thought about trying some of their solutions. I had downloaded screensavers www.3gforfree.com (nice website, free if you browse by phone) that weren't compatible...so when I opened my pics it froze up. I deleted the screensavers and now no prob. :)
Again thanks.
I would like to know how to use the USB driver for the A900 in order to download music from my PC to my phone.
Brenda- The phone freezing cause of your screensavers is because the pictures 'arent' formatted for your phone. Ive run into this in testing pictures. Though the phone says it supports .bmp it doesnt. .jpgs are really the only format it supports.
**HOW TO DOWNLOAD MP3s TO YOUR PHONE** (again)
1. Connect your phone your phone to your PC via USB Cable.
2. Cancel out the CDMA Technologies Dialog box. This is for your phone to act as a modem.
3. On your phone... Press the MENU button. Press the * key. Select MASS STORAGE. Select CONNECT TO PC.
4. Windows XP will display a dialog box on what to do. Open file browser.
5. You will see these folders.
DCIM, BLUETOOTH, MEDIA, filestore, Music
There are 2 places you can put your MP3s.
In the Music Folder - This is where your Sprint Store Music files are stored. You can put your Mp3s in here also and use the same player to play both .koz(Sprint Music Store Songs) and MP3s.
MEDIA Folder - You can only play MP3s from this folder. The .koz files WILL NOT play here. You can access the MP3s from the Media Player from the Main Menu.
**PLAYING YOUR MP3S**
Depending on where your MP3s are, from the 2 methods above.
The Media Folder can only be accessed from MEDIA PLAYER. Select Mass Storage and your MP3s will start to play.
The Music Folder you can access from the outside controls. Turn off your keyguard bypressing the up/down button and the camera button at the same time, your sub-lcd will say keyguard off. Then press and hold the PLAY button. Your phone will then say Starting Sprint Music Store. Then your Mp3s start playing.
*NOTE - You dont need to have a signal to access the Sprint Music Store to play your songs. Your phone will automatically know to just start playing.*
Is there any way of using mp3's as a ringer? I'd like to know how to make that happen.
Thanks much
nope... samsung didnt see fit to add this as a feature.... use one of the many free upload sites... since ringers cant be longer than 30secs, in my eyes there would be no point to have an mp3 as your ringer... 1. its to long, 2. the song would start from the beginning, 3. the song would have to load(about 2 seconds) before it started ringing...
to download onto my phone when i select mass storage it says no content ???
help
did you follow my steps ? and if you did, did you put it in the right folder ?
Kenny:
What other free download sites are there?
thanks i figured it out .........i'm a natural burnette but i do have blond highlites...lol...yah i know lame joke but thanks i got it now
yeah i spoke too soon now i cant play them it says unsupported document format by file viewer.... so now what
I download onto my phone put it on the wrong folder when i select mass storage it says no content ??? i have a mac and when i try to access the songs it doesn't let me access it says read only. what should i do
help
ps. i delete a folder by accident what does it effect the phone? :(
OK so i went to a website uploaded a file for my ringtone... it sent me a text. i opened the link with my phone and downloaded my custome ringtone to my phone. Its in my content and i set it as my ringtone. The only problem is, It wont play when i get a call. I have it on level 8 and it only vibrates. Can anyone help me out!!!?
I have had this phone for about a week now. The Bluetooth works great compared to my last phone...crystal clear on the headset but the battery life is next to nothing. I have to charge it daily and I would not consider myself to be a heavy user. A friend has the Razr and that phone has better features such as hassel free download capability for phone numbers etc. I have to say that I have not done alot of research on this phone yet regarding drivers and such but the Motorola was so user friendly. This phone looks good but that is about as far as it goes. I would not recommend it. If I had bought this myself I would be a bit irritated and would likely be taking it back.
Brenda- I use 3gupload.com for all my uplaoding and downloading. I make my own ringers through their site. 3gforfree.com is ok.. i used them once but 3gupload is 1000x better, imo.
Jenny- To play your songs, you have to use the MEIDA PLAYER (in the main menu)
Jack- Did you CONNECT TO PC from my steps above? When you connect to a mac, the Mac OS will automatically mount it but you wont be able to copy anything. Try using CONNECT TO PC, if that doesnt work, then you might have to use a friends PC, or let me figure it out when I get home since i use a mac too. If you deleted a folder by accident. I listed in the exact spelling and case of all the folders above.
Alex- Delete the song and downlaod it again. Also what format is it in ? Most ring tones will download as .qcp or m4a. It still doesnt work, use 3gupload.com instead of the site your using
James- Im sorry you dont like the phone. I love mine, sure there are a few things I dont like about it, but me coming from a Sanyo 5200 this is definitely better.
To save battery - 1. Update your phones software from the SETTINGS > OTHERS. This helps tremendously in battery life. 2. Set your ROAMING TO Sprint and NOT Automatic. 3. In your SETTINGS > OTHERS > LOCATION turn this off, This is a useless feature and drains battery. 4. Also the use of Bluetooth drains on the battery. I only use my headset when in the car. And I charge my phone every other day.
Hey kenny thanks for the idea. The files are in MP3. Specs on the phone say it supports MP3. Should i convert to m4a?
Nevermind i converted my file to M4a and it doesnt even play them on the phone like the Mp3 file....
whats the right folder to download the mp3s on cosue cant seee thw files
ok so i just got this phone and i went on musicstore and got a bunch of songs that cost way to much , and every time i use them i have to log back on to the music store??! i have read this post and i ve copied my music into the media folder and the music folder but i cant access any of my songs in my phone without logging back in to the fuggin music store, wtf! is it posible to store music on my phone for use without this online musicstore bullshii?
i dont think im getting the songs/pics off my computer to my phone. how do i accomplish that?
this is shitttty NO CONTENT in mass storage? then why is over half of my memory used up?
now im real pissed error 506 song cannot play!! none of my song will play that i just fucking bought from this stupid ass music store..rrrrr
nathan....your frustrations are common. this phone is all about the hype and the "abilities" but when it comes right down to it, it's just annoying.
seriously. it's not too much to want an mp3 player to (1) play music; and (2) use my songs that i own as ringtones.
so nathan....half of your (what, 32 MB?) are used up? the local memory on this phone is a joke. of course no one at the store could tell me any of this when i was shopping. staff is almost as useless as the phone.
noooo shit. im taking the phone back tomorrow, if they cant fix all these^^ problems and more ( unlisted) then f this phone im getting somthing else!!!
Cut parts of an Mp3 file and send it to your phone:
go to www.download.com and search for "tone this". Its a cool little program. It allows you to edit parts of an MP3 file and sends it to your phone. You also can send pictures from your computer to your phone.
Try it out and tell me what you guys think.
Also, I've read alot of reviews on this phone and alot of people have alot of bad things to say about this phone.... i thinks its a pretty cool phone, but the damn thing just freezes up from time to time... is this gonna get better??? :(.
Nathan,
In case you didnt know, you can drag MP3 you already have into your music folder through the usb cable that came with the phone. I would never buy music from the sprint music store...damn $2.00 for a friggen song??!!?? I wont even buy music from the apple store for $.99 cents let alone 2 bucks!!
Hope this was helpful
PS: I love this phone, but i guess it has to get worse before it gets better right?
**UPDATE YOUR PHONES SOFTWARE ! ! ! !**
Alex- Have both MP3s and M4a on my phone it plays them fine. I use m4a for the file compression since it helps drop the overall size about 1.5 mb less than an mp3.
Nathan- Yes it is possible to listen to your music WITHOUT logging into the music store... I couldve sworn I put that in one of my posts... oh wait there it is, Feb 15 last post
*NOTE - You dont need to have a signal to access the Sprint Music Store to play your songs. Your phone will automatically know to just start playing.*
I live in NYC and use my phone to listen to music whenever my iPod dies on me. SO AGAIN YOU DONT NEED A SIGNAL TO PLAY YOUR SONGS.
Your songs are on your phone if the memory is being used. Do this- TOOLS > MASS STORAGE > FILE MANAGER, then look in your MEDIA and MUSIC FOLDERS. The songs you bought from Sprint will be in your MUSIC FOLDER. Your mp3s will be in whatever folder you put them in.
The 503 errors are server timeouts, FYI.
James- Technically the phones memory is 47.3 (or 50mb) Yes it is lacking very much and yes we all wish they added an expansion slot, but this is "a gadget" for those techies that have to have the newest toy out.
Jake- I use 3gupload.com for all my phone needs. Ringtones, screensavers, etc... And yes some people dont have the patience to actually "learn" using the phone, or common sense to read whats called the USERS MANUAL, which gives a nice run down on all the features the phone can do.
TO ALL - PLEASE. Read through this thread slowly. All of my instructions on downloading mp3s to your phone are detailed and explained.
like i said i read this post, error m506 not 503, i have draged my music to my media file via the usb, and every time i access my music from my closed phone it still accesses the sprint music store. thats why i think its a bug in my phone you fn jackass, i didnt ask you to repeat yourself. for everyone else reading this there is a new development with this phone, every time somebody calls me with a picture added to there # sombody who's picture isnt theres comes up.
Kenny read this very slowly so you dont have to repeat yourself again!
Nathan- For one , my bad on the error code, there are numerous error explaination for #m506. The most common one is Carrier SC congestion, which comes from Sprint. The Smasung 506 is some kind of hard drive or software command error. Did you update your software? Another reason why you might get these errors, is do you just disconnect your phone from your computer ? or do you unmount it first ? This isnt like a normal removeable drive where its plug and play. So if you just remove it this may cause errors.
If your still having errors and problems go into your security settings and reset your phone back to factory default. From there see if you get all those errors again.
And your phone will always try and connect to the music store, even if you dont have a signal when you try and play your music.
and name calling is very mature
yes i dl the update, yes i restored and tried again. i went to a tec and he said i was better off trading in the phone ( which i did ) cause apparently even with all the patches that they make, the phone itself with all its lag, cutouts, and various other shortcomings just plain sucks. its poorly constructed and i hope that people are not scammed into getting one. also if anyone else buys music from the music store IT DOESNT CARRY OVER IN YOUR ACCOUNT TO A NEW HANDSET! after being told it was "still in my account" i came to find that you can only download the koz files once to one handset.. so im out 10.00 as it stands , but im talking with sprints " #1 in customer service" to rectify this situation.
and kenny FYI being condescending and talking down " ... I couldve sworn I put that in one of my posts... oh wait there it is, Feb 15 last post
SO AGAIN YOU DONT NEED A SIGNAL TO PLAY YOUR SONGS
The 503 errors are server timeouts, FYI"
douchebag
if anyone cares, i was refered by the online tecs to a 888 # where i was credited my money back.
Jake...you are the man! I just downloaded Tone This. It solved my one gripe about this phone. Nice try Samsung/Sprint. I'll be editing and sending my own ringtones for FREE!
Thanx Nathan 4 D Info
how do you get videos on the phone from the PC? what format does it have to be in? I tried 3g2 but i doesnt work when I look at it on my phone. Help, please.
hey i need to know how you add mp3's to your folder. i can't they are set as mp3's but the phone says it can't reconize it
hey i can't get my mp3's to play my phone does not reconize the formatt and they are mp3's so someone please help thanks
hey i can't get my mp3's to play my phone does not reconize the formatt and they are mp3's so someone please help thanks
the phone doesnt support actual videos, sounds like your trying to play your mp3s from the file manager, you have to play them from the player
I still dont know how to compress the MP3
let me know how its done....
i got my phone 3 days ago and i luv it!!!!!
okay... how do you put a different screensaver on your sub LCD. It will only let me put the same as my main LCD or a stupid digital clock. Most phones you can change it to whatever you want. You would think with such a fancy phone it would have this simple feature.
Kelly - Ive only been able to make the sub-lcd be what the main screen is or the presets. Check out sprintusers.com and see if someone there can help you
akaluda- i use itunes to compress my songs. in itunes, go to your preferences > importing tab. Now change to these settings.
ACC encoder
Custom setting
96kbps
Auto - Sample Rate
Auto - Channels
Now make Copies of the MP3s you want on your phone, else you run the chance of over writing the originals. Bring the copies into iTunes. Select them all and inyour top menu select ADVANCED > CONVERT TO MP3.
This will convert the selected songs into .mp4 or m4a. Now connect your phone to your PC and copy them into either the MUSIC folder or Media folder, depending on how you want to listen to your music. Read some of my previous posts above on specfic instructions on what each folder does and how to access them.
anyone know how/if you can use mp3's that were either downloaded from the sprint music store or uploaded to the phone for ringtones?
Kenvin - no you cant, samsung didnt feel the 'need' to add that to its software. Though Ive had heard of a software crack for the phone but have been unable to find it. So it might just be a rumor. Check out sprintusers.com and do a search, you might find something useful
PClink 2000 from www.samsung.com can be used to copy ringtones from your PC into "core" memory. Ringtones files must be copied into core memory to be used as phone ringtones. "Bulk" memory is all that you have access to through the A900 Mass Storage feature.
Sprint does not authoize the use of PClink 2000 - probably because they want the revenue through use of their web programs.
Samsung will not guide you through the use of PClink 2000.
There is no way to upload MP3 files via USB connection and use them as ringers.
However, here is a website with a free uploader that allows you to send ringers, images, games, and screensavers to your phone including MP3s.
http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/
Just make to keep the size under 1MB.
waddup
duz any1 no how i can make my own ringback tones
i really want to no
DJ: This is a bit late but hopefully you find it. You can reset the voice mode training by going into the voice service settings (either via the settings menu or via the settings key when in the voice dialing application) and there's a VoiceMode menu that contains a reset option. Also if it recognizes a word incorrectly highlight the word and press 0. Choose the right word from the list or choose spell word and type in the word if its not on the list. VoiceMode will learn when you do this. After correcting all the words in about 10 messages it works almost flawlessly for me now.
you cant make your ringback tones cause they are stored on the sprint server
Nvisible- thanx man
really appreciate it
ight den ttyl
Can you send videos you create to the computer & if so, how?
No. the phone doesnt support any of the video formats
taji........how do you access dat Pclink 2000 on da samsund website.......wat do u click on exactly. to any1 else who can anser this question where is da damn 32mb removable transflash memory card that the blade supposely has and can you change it into a higher memory card...i luv da phone besides lack of battery life and the space provided to store music because the music takes up the space for the pictures
hey kenny. i know how to compress the files from mp3 to aac and all. but how many more songs can you get on the a900 by doing this as opposed to not doing it. i was getting about 12 with just mp3. are there any other ways?
umm how do make the music size smaller so i can fit more music to my phone?
Handset Manager from mobilecityonline.com allows you to cut sections from your MP3. Works great.
Also has album, music manager, and file manager.
Still will not allow contact sync yet through USB. It says it has software to allow you to charge your phone through the USB. Haven't got it to work yet, but you can do only one or the other anyway.
I re-read my previous post. The cut sections of MP3 can then be used as ringers. This is in response to Spyde3, Feb. 28th.
A great bluetooth headset for this phone is Sony Ericsson HBH-610. Similar to the one Sprint sells (608), but better. It will auto-adjust volume based on conditions. Has DSP for really clear reception and noise suppression. It also helps saves battery on the phone by going on standby and dis-connecting link from phone. A quick press on the handset re-connects. Does a great job with the voice calling. It is also really small and lite-weight.
i have a mac G5 and i have just connected my a900 to it. my computer recognizes it as an external drive, but when i try to take music from my iTunes and put it in the phone it tells me my music can not be moved because the external drive can not be modified. is my phone locked to uploads? or am i just plain missing something?
You cant transfer files the conventional way. Ive never done it through bluetooth or on a Mac, so bare with me if Im wrong.
1.Connect via Bluetooth. (or USB Cable)
2.On your phone, Menu > Tools > Mass Storage > Connect To PC.(this should mount your phone as a accessible drive, if not then the drive on the phone isnt formatted correctly for a mac)
3.You should be able to tell if you can copy files over. (To see if its locked, I believe there should be a lock icon in the upper right or left of the window if you double click on the phone from the desktop)
If that doesnt work then you might need to use a Windows machine to copy files. Or go to sprintusers.com or 3gupload.com (in either of those forums) some one should be able to help you.
Can someone tell me how to get my itunes on this phone? I downloaded a bunch of converter programs (because I had read I needed that) but I don't know how to FIND the itunes on my PC. the only ting i did was export what is a library list and cant do anything else.
How do I get PClink 2000 to work, how do I get ring tones for my phone.
thanks kenny .. i was searching around for more answers and i learned that my curren OS (tiger) locks up the folder from the computers side and no one really knows why. apparently it works fine on panther though .. so it looks like im gonna have to use a windows machine .. thanks for your help though.
I am trying to convert MP3 to AAC format using Itunes but once I save the file out of Itunes it transfers it to a M4A file instead of keeping it a AAC file. Can someone tell me how to save it from Itunes as a AAC file
Thanks
hey guys. today i became the owner of the.. "blade" (not really what Samsung wants us to call them).. anywyas.. i spent 2 hours learning all the menus and everything. at first it was a lil frustrating to get the bluetooth to work, and the usb cable. after i figured everything out, i came to this website and found all the answers to my needs.. well almost.
the first thing that i wanna say is that (i have OS X) when i connect the phone to my iBook, i see it, but the phone's locked. I got around that with not much trouble since i have bluetooth on my computer... took me a while to figure out that if i wanted to transfer the mp3 files so that they would play, i would have to change the bluetooth default directory to the MEDIA folder (menu -> settings -> bluetooth).. so after that i was good to go. Then, to upload pics, i had to change the directory to DCIM (or w/e it's called).. so yeah.. i dont think a regular granny could figure this phone out even in a month. (i'm a 20 year old guy by the way.. )..
But at the end of the day.. i was thinking about the features, and here's what i came up with:(p)
1) Camera's pretty good... but not great.
2) The camcorder feature has good motion, but the quality kinda sucks..
3) Java games......? uhhhhh.. that's kinda old.... What happened to mophun? Symbian???? (oh nvm it's a samsung)
4) The mp3 player is great, that's the bets feature of all, i think.. i hate it how you can only choose 2 backgrounds while the music is playing though.. that's kinda gay
5) the VIDEO player sucks, since you can't play it full screen, and the menu takes about half of the screen......
6) the battery life... to tell the truth, it sucks.. i mean.. why would they make a phone with so many features and put a sucky battery on it? why not plan better???
7) headphone piece.......... uhhh.. what if i want to buy my own kick-ass headphones..? o.O
8) no extra storage is a BIG minus on this, specially with the MP3 playing and video playing features.. how gay is that..?
9) the tones when you press a button are gay.. "rain drop"..? well it's either that or a woman talking.. or just "click"... hmmm..
Finally.. i asked myself.. "what do i want in a phone?". Well.. i own a gameboy micro, so it's definitely not gaming. I own a digital camera.. so not for perfect quality pictures, although the quality is pretty good, and you can take it to, lets say, concerts.. To play music? That'd be nice, except for the memory. Flip phone with two screens? Don't really need 2 screens.
Guess what.. today i started my 14-day trial with Spring, and tomorrow i will cancel it and return the phone. Why? I don't think it's worth 212 dollars (which is exactly what i paid for it). I payed 20 bucks for my old nokia phone on ebay and it has pretty much the same stuff than this one, and the cam is pretty much the same..
I think i'm gonna try the new ROKR next, besides, cingular's pretty good too.
iSleek
the m4a file format is, acc. ACC is just eh codec used to compress the file. The file format is MPEG 4 AUDIO, (M4A). M4A files do work on the phone.

I hope SOMEONE out there can help. I just bought my blade about 2 weeks ago. I am cool with the battery life, However I have tried 4 different bluetooth pieces and all four I have had trouble with. It seems that after making a call or receiving, or even if I have the phone on standby for any length of time, it starts playing a tone. Now, freak thing is, it doesnt happen if a bluetooth piece is NOT connected, it only happens when using a bluetooth piece. Please, someone help..this phone, other than the bluetooth problem, is just wayyy to cool to give up!
Check out sprintusers.com
theres a ton of bluetooth info on this phone
Kenny
Thanks for the info, now I have the file on my phone but I can't set it to work as a ringtone. How do I get this file to work as a ringtone.
I know it needs to be less thank 30 seconds which it is.
Why is it so difficult to use this phone?
Thanks for the help
MP3s cant be used as ringtones, and i havent seen anyone able to do so. So use sites like 3gupload.com to do your ringtones, its free and easy. there a tons of sites like this, i like using them cause i can store my files there for backupincase anything happens to my phone or i delete something by accident.
I found out how to playt my songs but still can not figure how to do the movies.
Kenny i just want to thank you for all your help.. i just downgraded from the ppc6700 because of bulkiness and it came with software to sync and this one doesnt and i totally freaked who knew there was a mass storage button! Thanks for the great help
Looking into buying this phone, and all of the posts I've read so far have been extremely helpful..
One question maybe someone can answer.. On Sprint's product page it lists this device "Phone as Modem Capable".. Claiming that you can connect to the internet using the phone via Bluetooth or with the supplied USB cable.. Has anyone tried this with success?? I have an Apple Powerbook G4 running the latest version of OSX, will I be able to use this phone as a way to connect to the internet??
Also, does anyone know the exact amount of storage this phone allows??
Thanks..
Kenny:
It worked thanks for the help. Last question
why is my camera upside down when I open the phone to take a picture the picture is upsidedown.
Do I need to send it to Sprint to get fixed.
Help
how to unloc de a900?? to activate in mexico, need to charge the prl an unlock the SPC
Newguy30
Just push the arrow buttons on the left side. This turn you picture right side up.
i just got the razr phone and i cant seem to open up the music that i upload onto the phone. it says that the file is not supported. can anyone help me out?
Kenny..
I thought there was something wrong with my camera too, until i accidentally pressed the side up and down button, that sets your picture upright. Try that out and let me know if it works.
To Newguy30:
Using your volume control on side of phone when in camera mode will flip it upside down and right side up.
www.3gupload.com is not a free website. I signed up for a membership w/ them two years ago when you had to make a one-time donation and you got free unlimited service, but since I hadn't logged in for over a year I guess that was cancelled. Anyone else know any good free sites? Just curious.
i have been looking for this phone for so long and i already have a plan for sprint but i can find the phone without getting a plan with it
Someone help! My a900 is already installed in my computer. I want to know how I can transfer pictures from my laptop computer to my phone(kinda figured this one out) and THEN be able to get those pictures into my phone photo album so I can use them as screen savers or wallpapers on my phone( MAIN PROBLEM). Any help will be great. Thanks.
Datapilot has released new software that allows syncing of contacts only. The only glitch I found was when importing from Outlook the phone # formatting goes from (555)555-5555 to
555-55-55555.
I changed them by hand (Ctl-x then Ctl-v) puts it as a single string "5555555555".
I didn't try exporting to phone first to see if it made a difference.
I get free updates for 6 months and I'm hoping that they'll add calendar function.

I have software for this (read above), but the pathway my files end up in are:
File Manager - DCIM - 100SSMED
Not sure if your needs to end up in 100SSMED, or if just being in DCIM is good enough.
hey i just recently purchased this phone and was wondering if i can download software to directly upload photos from my phone to my pc or download mp3's from my pc to my phone without paying any more money to sprint. How can I get my ringtones to my computer? I know there is a lot of questions about files from computer to ringtone- but I want to do the reverse. Or is there an easy way to send a ringtone to another phone?
you cant transfer the actual phone ringers to your computer but you can transfer anything youve uploaded or downloaded to your phone.
When you connect to your phone from your computer just copy the stuff out like any other file.
The stuff I've uploaded/dowloaded doesn't show up in any of the files when I connect my phone to the computer.
I downloaded them from 3gupload.com and they show up in my ringer file in my content. How can I put them on my computer?
Peej- You cant, your ringers that you donwload from 3gupload go into a hidden part of the memory. I remember someone saying they got PCLink 2000 to access that hidden part, but never said how. You might want to check out sprintusers.com and ask your question there.
i bought the phone yesterday and really love it! but i have itunes and was wondering if i could transfer the itunes onto my phone. anyone know how to do that?
For those of you who are looking for a way to upload MP3/ringtones to your phone and don't want to pay, there is a site that "spyde3" linked.... http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/ .
This site is freakin' awesome. I make my own ringtones with a software program I have. Well I made some for my buddy who's got the A900. We thought we could just import them with USB cable but, we didn't know about Sprint's crappy ass proprietary software that will not let you do that.
We have been uploading my ringtones to his phone for the last hour (I made 40+). You should definitely check out the site and donate to him. We plan on donating to him once we get all the songs uploaded.
Good luck guys/gals !!!!

I hate this phone! It was a terriable experiance for me and my family. The violence was way extreme for me! people lost lives over this phone. I as a Mother of 9, am upset at this violent, immoral, phone. It beat my kids when they refused to use it! And It ran away with my husband. I gained 119 pounds with this phone, dont follow the path i did. This phone will destroy YOUR life, as it did mine. - A concered parent
I agree with Billy Johanson. She is right, this phone is rude to you. Becarful with this phone fool.
This may have been covered before, but apparently not enough for me to understand; please forgive my ignorance in this subject.
I have the Samsung A900 with USB cable. I ordered the service from Sprint which allows me to use my phone as a (high speed) modem. The problem is that when I plug the phone into my PC it asks for a driver which I have no idea where to find. I called Samsung and Sprint and they both said that they dont support windows 98. Is there any way I can circumvent these difficulties withouth getting a new operating system?
All suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Did you guys know that if you change the file extension from .koz to .mp3 you can bypass the license check for the song, the only this is that it skips abit. But atleast now you can share songs using bluetooth or pc.
I was just wondering if someone could tell me how to use my phone as a modem? I tried downloading something from sprint.com but it tells me to connect my phone and I do but I may be doing it wrong. If you don't mind could you explain it to me step by step? Oh and earlier I saw someone complain about the cost to download music. I go to www.allofmp3.com for all my music. Sometimes they don't have all the most recently released music but they get it about a week or two after it comes out in stores. Also the one plus about it is that the music is like $1.00 for a whole downloaded cd. You can download one song or all. You get charged by the MG of the song. I hope this helps out some of you, like me, that spend way too much on music.

I know to plug in USB, but the problem is they are KOZ files and I don't know how to change them. Also I want to get a little crazy here and drop them in my itunes. So if anyone could please tell me what to do- like I was new to the game... step by step. Thanks
Sending music to ur phone is simple. Download the files from www.samsungwireless.com/a900download . Once you install plug data cable in. Once all the drivers are loaded goto my computer and it should show a F drive... Open that and it will be 3 folders . Drag and drop ur music in media folder. i think u can only get like 9 songs in there, but there you have it.
is there anyway to retreive a picture if you accidentally deleted it before uploading.. or is there a way to set the phone so it automatically uploads all your pictures when you take them.. my old samsung use to do that...
Hey there:
I'm considering getting the a900 but have some questions:
1. Can I sync with outlook calendar/tasks/contacts?
2. Can I get email directly through a program?
3. Is it easy to put a TV show or anything on there?
TX
Mike
can some tell me how to convert mp3 to koz cause then you can put more songs on the samsung a900 cause it shrinks it ti KB's thx
kenny,
You must be really stupid, to keep telling people how dumb it would be to upload your own mp3's as ringtones.
You seem to think that, you are fairly smart.
If you were as smart as you think you are, you would know that you can go to download.com and get software that allows you to cut you own mp3 files. That way you could not only cut your own music, you could also insure, it is a part of the song that you want as your ringer.
Though to my knowledge it is still not possible to upload mp3's as ringers. Quit telling people how stupid they are for wanting to do so.
When i get missed alerts or alerts that are happening right then in there my phone lights up and all but there is no sound. The red light blinks and the screen lights up but the ringtones i set it to be wont sound at all nor does it vibrate. I even have my ringer on Level 8 with vibrate on and when people call me the ringer works but text messaging and etc wont ring.
like many others, i'm quite disappointed that i can't play my mp3s as ringtones. after browsing this thread, i found this link:
http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/
does anyone know if this tool applies to me if i'm not a sprint user, but i have the a900?
i'm from canada and with bell mobility, just curious if it's compatible. thanks
Some one know if the A900 tranfer ringtone or song with the bluetooh?
does anyone know how to get the videos on the a900, which are formatted in 3gp style logic to play in a wav or mpeg media player styled formatt? i cant play the 3gp formatt on my pc...i can download from the phone to the pc in the dcim folder but when i click on them....no success due to this strange 3gp formatt. please advice. thanks
HOW TO USE YOUR MP3'S AS RINGTONES ON THE BLADE
The Rumkin web tool is the absolute only way to get your own music downloaded into the Blade for use as ringtones. Go to the website provided by z-magic and read how to do it.
One important note - you will need to do a couple things to your mp3's before uploading them to the website:
1. Edit down the music file using a music editor to 20-40 seconds. I am on a Mac, so I use a program called Audacity (it's simple and free).
2. Save the new shorter mp3 file at a lower bitrate. You won't miss the sound quality comming out of those 5mm speakers. Also, the Rumkin tool will not let you upload files that are too large.
why did my phone lock up and say "emergency vart" and not turn off? i have the samsung a 900 and i dont know why it did this... i was on the web on my phone when it locked up :/

I'm having trouble transfering pictures to my new Samsung A900. What are the specifications of the pictures in order to be seen on the phone. I know they need to be in 240 x 320, but is there anything else I need to do?
I'm trying to use the A900 as a modem and was told I could and had it added to my plan. Anybody know the steps I'm supposed to follow after downloading the connection manager, I'm doing something wrong because it says "connect the phone", I connect it and there is no response from the connection manager.

how do i download music from my pc to my a900? i went to my computer and didn't see the phone listed although the computer recognizes the usb port........
appreciate
Well, I got the phone and can make it work... disappointed about the abttery life, and the inability to synch with outlook except via Bluetooth (that's not synching, it's simply copying!).
I noticed PCLINK 2000 as well from the samsung site... anyone know if it exists in English? I'd love to be able to get around the synching problem.
Earlier, people were complaining about getting phantom calls while using it in a car with bluetooth enabled... I'm thinking about getting a 2006 Prius... is this still a problem?
i love this phone transfering mp3s took me a bit but i got it down, heres a link to download the drivers to be add jpegs on oyur pc to your a900 http://global.mobileaction.com/

Can anyone tell me in easy terms how many songs the phone holds? I just got mine 3 days ago and so far love it!!!!
Hi there. I followed the advice on this page and used 3gupload.com to put my MP3s onto my phone and use them as ringtones. I am wondering, though--is there any way to put these MP3s onto my phone and be able to listen to them as music files? When I go to "My Locker" and download the file it automatically puts the files into my ringtone area of the phone. Which is fine, except I'd rather listen to them as music sometimes, too. Mass storage says I don't have anything in it. Thanks!!
OK... now i've acquired DataPilot because I'd heard that it supported the a900.
Unfortunately, it only seems to support the US version of it (I assume this means Sprint customers). I'm from Toronto and am using Bell Mobility... Is there any way to synch with DataPilot (or any other program)??
Give me an email if you know, frodbonzi@gmail.com
Otherwise, I love this phone... just seems silly that I can't synch with Outlook!
I just got an a900, but I cant get music onto in, I compressed my mp3's to fit a few more, and I put them in the MEDIA file. The songs show up when I go into the Media Player, but they are 0:00 long. Does anyone know what might be causing this?
I can't figure out how to transfer a photo from my a900 to my computer via bluetooth. Can this be done? I choose the photo I want to send and choose 'send' from the options. I then choose bluetooth and it tries to search for my computer but it never finds it...even when my computer is set to receive a file. Please help if you've mastered this.
I just got an A900 today and have no clue of how to get my pc to recognize the phone, do i need a progrm or something?? can someone tell me how to get songs in my phone. starting from taking it out of the box please... thanks in advance.
You need the USB drivers to use the data cable.
For the data cable and drivers to work you have to select tools->mass storage-> connect to pc
Or a bluetooth adapter... I don't have that so I can't help there.
Hey Kenny, thanks for all the helpful info on here. You have probably answered this but I don't have Itunes and I'm trying to compress my MP3s but the best I could do was a 2.0 Mgb to a 1.96 is that as good as it gets? All I have is Winamp and windows media player
This is to whoever knows exactly what they're talking about. Hello. When I visit the MusicStore on my A900, as soon as the download for a song begins, the following scrolls across the bottom of the page, "Visit www.bell.com/getmusic to download music to PC." The only problem is that this page doesn't exist! So... What the devil shall I do? Please e-mail me with a reply.
OKAY OKAY - FOR DOWNLOADING MUSIC FROM YOUR PC TO YOUR A900 PHONE: Visit the website http://pocketpccentral.net/help/access/a900_pc_trans.htm ---> And follow the directions... This website should prove quite helpful.
I HAVE JUST DISCOVERED THE SWEETEST THING EVER!! If you want to download music from your A900 phone to your PC... Visit http://www.bell.ca/getmusic ---> This site does not exactly work but it transfers you to the Fuel Zone page, etc.
From here, there are two tabs "Highlights" and "How It Works".
Click on the tab "How It Works".
When this new page opens, scroll to the bottom where it reads, "Download to your PC". Click on the link "Full Track Music PC download site."
FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS FROM THERE. ENJOY!
just got the Blade, i think it might be good, but as a MAC user, how do i get my mp3's onto it. i've tried the pc way and it obviously doesn't work... thanks

As more and more people get online, the internet becomes increasingly less helpful for finding any truly usefull information.
Thank you people for ruining the internet!
hey kenny i just wanted to say i was looking for a lot of information on how to set my phone up and i came to this website and read some things and you have helped out a lot. thanks
This phone sucks major. Mine turns off randomly for abslutely no reason and it's SUPER slow. I think sprint needs to work out the bugs and it might be a decent phone. But I want to upload pictures from my phone to my PC and this stupid thing won't let me.
Does anyone know how to get my pics from my phone to my pc?
i`m going to Brasil
may i use my sansung a900 over there ?
Ok so I read many of the posts above and none them have helped. I trimmed the song to make it small enough to be a ring tone and i know it was because funformobile.com was able to send it to me via text but i dont want to use my internet!!! I switched it to AAC format using itunes and i got it on my phone.
i dont have a music folder under my mass storage so i put it under media
when i click on the song it say the unsupported document format message..... but i can listen to it on the media play
one problem.... i dont want to listen to it on media player.. thats what my ipod is for.... i want it as my ring tone!!!!
so what am i doing wrong????

Does anyone know how to get my pics from my phone to my pc?"
On my phone all i do is plug in the usb cord it came with to the usb port on my computer the computer reconizes it and all i do is go to it on my computer go to the Dcim file then the 100ssmed file then it just pops up with images. then i highlight them and send them to my documents. but this wont work if u are trying to get pics from ur online album. then u have to upload them to your phone. also if u dont have windows xp or a new mac it wont be able to reconize it. if that doesnt work then simply send them to your e-mail from ur phone.
It is a slider???
