CTIA 2006 -- MediaFLO parent Qualcomm today announced that it has city-wide coverage of Las Vegas for its mobile TV network. Because of the live network around the city, live demos will be possible at CTIA. Devices will be shown from Kyocera, LG, Motorola, Pantech, Samsung and Sharp.

Using two FLO transmitters, the demonstration network will feature multicast of multiple channels of QVGA-quality video content, audio content and data transmissions for IP datacasting applications across the city of Las Vegas.

MediaFLO should make its launch effort later this year in a partnership with Verizon Wireless. The technology allows for 20 streaming channels of QVGA-quality video at full motion plus 10 channels of audio. Addionally, MediaFLO boasts channel changing times of less than two seconds (no long buffering times). It's one of several competing mobile TV standards.
