Qualcomm has secured approval for its MediaFLO mobile TV standard which is a major milestone to getting the tech to market. Most importantly was a decision about compatibility with the digital TV transition. The ruling was in Qualcomm's favor which should drastically increase the number of markets MediaFLO can launch in before the DTV rollover in 2009.

“Today's ruling is a big win for consumers, who will soon be able to enjoy new and exciting mobile TV experiences from MediaFLO USA,” said Gina Lombardi, president of MediaFLO USA. “This ruling enables MediaFLO USA to launch its services to millions of customers across the nation.”
