opera-mini.pngOpera Software today announced version 2 of its popular Opera Mini application. The free browser was launched globally in January and has quickly gained popularity. Opera Mini uses a proxy server hosted by Opera to handle most of the raw processing, so the actual application is very light weight. That lets it run on almost any Java enabled phone, instead of just smartphones like with Opera Mobile.

New features in Opera Mini 2 include:

  • SMS mobile commerce support
  • Bookmarks are assigned a shortcut key combination, so it's effictively speed dial for websites
  • Skins, several new themes for the UI
  • Multiple search engines are now on the homepage
  • Content download, fetch images, MP3s, etc directly to the phone
  • Visual navigation: Quick and smooth horizontal panning when browsing backwards or forwards.

If you haven't checked it out already, go download Opera Mini. It's my preferred browser for most handsets. Fast, free. Can't beat it!

For the people from Romania I'd will like to say: you don't try yet Opera Mini? What do you wait? It's the best and you don't expand money. Nu ati încercat încă Opera Mini? Ce mai așteptați? Este cel mai bun browser si nu mai cheltuiți bani. Thanks for all. Dani Bolog
