Love the design of this phone.

Why such a low key launch?

Sure, it is just a lower-end phone, but it does what it does VERY well. Better than any Nokia phone I've had.

Love the 300i. FM radio, MP3 player, looks cool, and easy to use. Nice size. Did not come with M2 stick or USB cable as advertised by Sony...But picked it up for 19.99 at Radio Shack and no need to hassle with the $75 mail-in rebate.
