Jermaine, it's pronounced Riser. Since it slides up, sort of makes sense. SLDR might have made a tad more SNSE, but I don't come up with the names.

Is it just me or does this phone look pretty thick, it's not huge, but it could be thinner and smaller.

Too bad every phone I've ever seen from LG sucked when it came to reception. Was constantly losing signal, and definitely noticed it seemed to have issues switching cell towers when I owned one.

Ray, to be fair I think Tiabin was referring to the part of the discussion above concerning the LG Chocolate line... The RIZR is obviously a Motorola.

It doesn't really seem that thick, 2mm more than the RAZR. But I guess I will have to pick it up first before really knowing how it feels.

Now if Motorola would just learn how to write decent software to go on such a device...

I just hope that if this phone gets ported to Verizon, that they don't mess with the software and disable bluetooth song transfer like they did with the RAZRs.

The thing that has always disappointed me about Motorola Phones is there software. All I want is an address book that groups multiple phone numbers for a contact under the contact name. I don't want multiple listings for the same person in the main part of the address book. Why is that so hard for phone manufactures to understand?

Phil, the phonebook app in the RIZR has been updated versus the last gen of Motorola's. I haven't used it extensively, but it is improved. Here's what Rich from PhoneScoop has to say:

I checked out the LG KG800 and I've got to say that I rather prefer the touchpad buttons on the RIZR over the clunky LG buttons anyday. Touchpads are the way of the future.

Looks very nice. Motorola needs to make a cdma version. Id drop big bucks to buy it unlocked then pay activation on verizon, i wouldnt care to get a phone that nice. To bad verizon has no cool phones. I dont know why motorola doesnt just release all there phones to every service provider, im sure they would make more money that way.

Man I'm in love =). It seemed kinda icky when all I saw was a blue RIZR but now I see black!=D. me and some friends at school where working to get a Z imported for ourselves but now I gotta spread the good news that we don't have to work on it anymore.

On al the pictures of the phone on the motorola website, there is a date on the screen of the rizr. The date on the phones is 11/10/06. websites have said that the phone is going to be released in qaurter 4 and 11/10/06 is in quarter 4. Its just a hunch, but maybe that could be the release date.

this phone is really nice looking however if you look at it, it's the same basic thing as the samsung d807. I'd buy it if it were less, but supposedly the start price is going to be betweek 350 and 450 when it;s released for regular sale. The ones for sale on ebay and google are ones that are insiders in the the MOtorola company are selling. It will be a cool enuff phone, but samsungs are a higher quality in my book.
